CASS Global is a strong proponent of team cohesion, where all subordinate elements work towards collective success in terms of client satisfaction. Of all the dotted line relationships, none is so vital as the interaction between the Protection element and the Personal Assistant.
Of the nearly hundred or so Personal Assistants we have worked with over the years, they all have two things in common: none of them are stupid/dumb and they have been around a long, long time and their bosses trust them implicitly. To that end, it is worth explaining the type of relationship we strive for with these key individuals.
First of all, we are on the same side. We desire to make the PA’s life easier, as opposed to complicating it. That in turn entails open communications, the solicitation of intelligent input, and the occasional white board session.
Secondly, we are not competing for the PA’s job. Just because we can arrange logistics at a very long end of a supply chain does NOT mean we are engaging in “turf wars”. Upon occasion, following our hiring, we are faced with passive-aggressive individuals who are very status/turf conscious. Our job is to protect the client, provide as many ancillary services as the situation permits, and attempt to make your life easier. Your job is to help support as at our job, and we hope that you also adhere to the bottom line of the mission statement that proclaims, “and whatever else is required to complete the mission”.
When a sound working relationship is constructed with the Personal Assistant, we routinely find that the workload for both parties decreases. The reciprocal is also true but with the caveat that the workload/stress increases exponentially.
As an aside, we make every effort to provide a comprehensive inbrief to all dotted line members beneath the client. It is an open forum, question and answer period where all may expand upon their “can’t stands” and “must haves”. By being proactive in terms of ongoing relationships with PA’s, family office, etc, we have confirmed that most negative scenarios are easily sidestepped through the medium of effective communications. It works, and improves the professional and personal standard of performance for all those who partake.
So if your current Security Provider isn’t doing this, they should be.
CASS Global. Because intelligent interaction among motivated individuals works miracles. And the Personal Assistant is the one, more than any, who can make it happen.
